some of our needs
Currently we are needing a donation of land, or funds to purchase land for our sanctuary/refuge where we can provide a home for the animals.Vehicles are needed for transports, as well as donations to pay for fuel and vet bills.
We are also looking for a donation of an older, running motor home to use for Rescue and Transports.
Prefer a Class B or C from the 70's or early 80's (pre computer controlled engine). Dodge, Ford, or Chevy. (Would love a Toyota, but beggars can't be choosers!) Interior condition doesn't matter as long as it runs and drives.
The main use of the RV will be for transporting multiple animals to a safe place, either to avoid euthanasia, or in times of disaster, such as hurricanes, fire or floods.
The benefits of having a motor home over another vehicle such as a van or SUV would be in having room for crates, room for food and supplies, a place for the driver to sleep on long transports, the ability to provide multiple dog transports, a climate controlled area throughout and the ability to provide for special needs animals such as those that have Glaucoma, where transportation by plane would be dangerous due to the change in pressure causing the eye to possibly rupture.
There will also be a refrigerator for medicines as well as a grooming area with built in plumbing to bathe the animals, treat for fleas and ticks, and clip severely matted dogs.
We are specifically looking for an older model because they are easier to maintain, and parts are more reasonably priced.
